Our Christmas morning started off bright and early (or rather dark and early!) at 6:45 a.m.! The pups were anxiously waiting while daddy pumped gas :)
We headed on over to my parents for Christmas morning. I'm not going to lie... I was horrible at taking pictures at my folks' house because I didn't have on enough make-up and I was still a little sleepy!
But, Jared opened a very entertaining toy, an air-soft gun from my parents. To say he just "wanted" this gift would be the understatement of the century. He has spent the last month researching guns and convincing all the boys to ask for guns as well! They plan on having "air-soft" wars at church :)
On a side note...I've said, "Jared, put that down. Seriously." at least 1000 times today!
My dad may have kicked us all out of the kitchen to make breakfast, but he sure did a good job!
Here's my sweet Momma and me after church on Christmas day! We had both perked up a little by then, and we had on our scarves from each other! LOVE my parents sooooo much!
My sweet nieces at church
After church we headed over to the Lemons for Christmas lunch! We presented the girls with "lumps of coal" first thing! It was quite entertaining, and we have decided to make this a yearly tradition :)
They weren't quite sure how to take it at first...
Jenna was really wanting actual presents, ha!
Christmas Day photos:
This was probably the best part of the afternoon... Rick was overly excited about getting socks for Christmas. I mean, who doesn't want socks?? His reaction was priceless!
So, we decided to make fun faces while opening presents as well :)
Jenna Bear with her new Bible!
... and Baby Jesus! She seriously asked us to get her the baby Jesus for Christmas. Who knew that you could actually order a baby in swaddling clothes on Amazon, ha!
This was also an incredibly entertaining moment... Bella shooting Jared with the air-soft gun
We hope you all had a very Merry Christmas! We are now exhausted, but it has been more than wonderful to spend the day with all of our family, AND worship our Savior this morning at church! Couldn't have been better :)
Jared and I have had lots of Christmas fun today! We spent the afternoon at my Meemaw and Grandpa's house with almost ALL of my mom's side of the family... we were only missing 1 of my cousins! It was the first time in FOREVER that our whole family has been together. Our family sure has grown over the past few years, but I must say that it was surprisingly low-key (considering how many people were in one house) and rather enjoyable :)! It truly felt like Christmas did when I was a kid and all of the family got together to celebrate! I do LOVE my family!
Now on to the baking. Jared and I both had our little hearts set on different desserts that we've seen through Pinterest (he'll act like he doesn't look through my pinterest account, but we all know he really does, ha!) Jared is much more of a "baker" than I am, but I did dip my hand in a few of the desserts this year. Here's what we made:
Jared and I knew we HAD to make coal for our nieces when we saw these on Pinterest! We are hoping that it brings laughter and not tears when we give them on Sunday morning :) Actually, they are rice krispy treats with black icing coloring. They do taste quite delicious!
I don't know about y'all, but I love me some good ol' fashioned Holiday traditions. Since Jared and I don't have any kiddos of our own, we don't have a ton of things that we do from year to year around the holidays, but the few traditions we've made for ourselves, I LOVE!
One of my favorite Holiday festivities is going to see the Gaylord ICE! We have now gone 3 years in a row with our sweet friends, Kent and Sarah. This year we decided to take our little friend, Royal, along for the journey! He made it ten times more fun than before :)
Eating at Hard Eight BBQ before we headed to the Gaylord!
Fun times in the backseat :) This consisted of Royal telling jokes, singing gospel music, and telling very elaborate stories... and he might have threatened to "throw us out the car" a few times, haha!
We had to wait on the boys to get our tickets, so we entertained ourselves by taking pictures (to which Royal said, "I don't wanna take no pictures," and I simply said in return, "We're going to be taking lots of pictures tonight so you're going to have to get over that!"
Decked out in our fancy coats, entering the freezing cold temps!
He was a true sport!!!
So, this is really funny... we waited in line to take this picture because it was a great photo op, BUT Jared and I wanted one with just us... so we made Royal duck down. People in line were looking at us like, "did they really just push that sweet boy out of the picture" hahahaha, priceless!
But, we took one with him, too!
Waiting in an enormously long line to ride the slide. Okay, I may be a little dramatic, but it was frustrating because they had half of the slides closed!!! So, we entertained ourselves :)
Royal was quite the frightened one, but he went down anyways! YAY!
I'm pretty sure that Sarah and I were frozen solid at this point... my cheeks couldn't move, I now couldn't say my s's, and I'm pretty sure my snot was no longer a liquid, haha! 7 degrees is stinkin cold, y'all!
Leaving the ICE display, but had to take some few last pictures!
And, definitely can't miss out on our yearly carriage pictures!
I must say, the Gaylord NEVER disappoints this time of year! We debated back and forth whether to head out to Grapevine again, but I am so glad we did! It was well worth the money and drive :)
